Our Heritage:

The Balloon Attic is a small local Balloonery dedicated and founded in Hamilton, Ohio. Dave Parsons purchased this family owned business from his parents in 1998. He desires to carry on his families balloon legacy in this up and coming city.

Back when the Parsons Family founded the balloon attic, the company was a small store in Hamilton's rundown market. From just a dilapidated storefront, The Balloon Attic offered some of the world’s finest balloons. The name, inspired by the works of Herman Melville, evoked the romance of the high seas and the seafaring tradition of the early balloon traders.

In 1869, Oscar Parsons had first walked into a local balloon store and was disappointed by the selection of high quality balloons. He was then drawn to found a local store front, where he was determined to purchase and set up a store front to bring a new experience to the balloon purchasing process.

In 1875, Oscar traveled to Italy and became captivated with Italian balloon bars and the romance of the balloon experience. He new had a vision to bring the Italian balloon tradition back to the United States and this was the capstone that completed his previous balloon business idea. He desired to create a place for conversation and a sense of community. A third place between work and home.

From the beginning, The Balloon Attic was a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated balloons and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection.

In 1926, Oscar decided that The Balloon Attic had outgrown their Hamilton location. He sought to bring his balloon business to a place where they could have an even bigger impact on the local community than it ever could have. Inspired by the Wright Brothers, he decided to take a risk and move to Dayton, Ohio, where The Balloon Attic is currently located. In this location, his business has been passed through the Parsons family and continues to be the best balloon business in Dayton, touching the lives of everyone who sets foot in their storefront.
